Searching for how to maintain our gestural hand in various mediums and scale, we ask the question who or what is leading the exploration? Is the medium, the concept or our own intuitive voice leading the way?

An Illustrated Life: Art Journaling
5 Week Sessions | Artistree Community Art Center, South Pomfret, VT
Explore art journaling and the personal narrative with the freedom and flow to tell your story. We will create a bound book for mixed media tests and samples to understand your materials, learning the basics in color theory.  In a larger journal we will discover our individual uniqueness with prompted exercises, writing, painting, and collaging.

Creative Threads: Fiber Art Journaling

The meditative practice of stitchery is about honoring the imperfect, the handmade, and feeding your love of fiber. Stitchery, like any art, is about mark making, color study and creative expression. We explore line and shape; shading and texture; inviting you to play, experiment and invent through prompted exercises.

The Sensorial Artist

Sensory art amplifies our experience by integrating elements that appeal to all five senses. We relax into art making with a mindfulness practice, leading us into a freedom of expression to record our sensorial discoveries through intuitive mark making and painting. We allow the layering of translucent senses to develop into creative book form.

Discovering the Self: Exploration in Self-Portraiture
5 Week Sessions | Artistree Community Art Center, South Pomfret, VT
Discover and delight in the exploration of who you are. The self-portrait represents the whole artist, not only who you see, but what you feel. Through observation and prompted exercises, we will explore ways to examine our features using a mix of materials and techniques, from contour drawing, sumi ink painting, watercolor washes and more.

An Introduction to Encaustics: Working with Hot Wax
1 Day Workshop | Artistree Community Art Center, South Pomfret, VT
Explore the art of hot wax. Receive hands-on introduction in the encaustic process with a focus on safe studio practices. Demonstrations will be provided for basic techniques in painting, collage and relief. We will create surfaces both smooth and textured using a variety of tools.
